MASTER IN APPLIED CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

SCOP:
Training of qualified personnel for the profession of biochemist in the healthcare system (ESCO Code 2131.4.3 – Biomedical scientist), which is registered in the Register of the European Federation of Professions
OBJECTIVE:
Training of professional competences specific to the occupation of Biochemist in the healthcare system, in accordance with the European standards defined by the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine(EFCC),
The curriculum targets three broad learning outcomes:
- understanding and accumulating the theoretical knowledge on which professional action is based,
- developing skills to practice as a biochemist in the healthcare system
- developing the professional skills of biochemists in the healthcare system.
SKILLS:
- perform all laboratory methods required as part of medical examination, monitoring, treatment and research activities involving the design, planning, organization, implementation, application, evaluation, interpretation and validation of all analytical processes
- apply qualitative and quantitative laboratory methods, including image analysis and digital pathology, to provide an investigative report and diagnostic opinion on biological products.
- interpret analytical results determined in clinical/medical laboratories
- develops new analytical methods specific to clinical/medical laboratories
- develops new statistical analysis and bioinformatics processes in the clinical/medical laboratory
- develops new methods for processing biological samples
- ensures quality control and internal audit in the clinical/medical laboratory
- provides advice to other health professionals (laboratory doctors, general practitioners, specialist physicians and laboratory nurses) to improve personalized patient diagnosis
