UB ranks 226th in the world for graduate employability results

QS World University Rankings 2026: The University of Bucharest, first university in Romania and in the top 770 universities in the world

The University of Bucharest reconfirms its position as the leader in Romanian higher education, according to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings 2026, released today, June 19, 2025. Worldwide, the University of Bucharest ranks in the range 761 – 770, marking a significant evolution compared to the previous edition (801-850) and achieving some of the best results in the last decade.

81.1% of UB graduates, employed in the first 7 to 11 months after graduation

The performance of the University of Bucharest is particularly remarkable in terms of graduates’ employability (Employment Outcomes) and the appreciation that graduates enjoy among employers (Employer Reputation). Thus, according to this year’s QS World University Rankings 2026, the University of Bucharest claims the leading position at the national level for both indicators, reconfirming the institution’s ability to train competitive specialists prepared for the global labor market.

At the international level, the University of Bucharest ranks 226th in terms of graduate employability results and 400th in terms of reputation among employers, consolidating its image as a university offering relevant studies adapted to the current demands of society and positioning itself among the best higher education institutions in Central and Eastern Europe.

In fact, according to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings 2026, the graduates of the University of Bucharest manage, to a very large extent (81.1%), to find a job 7 – 11 months after graduation.

Moreover, according to QS World University Rankings 2026, the University of Bucharest stands out for the quality and openness of its academic research: UB ranks 495th in the world on the International Research Network indicator, which measures the diversity and intensity of international scientific collaborations. This result reflects the constant involvement of our academic community in research projects with a global impact, due in particular to the partnerships opened up by our membership, as of 2019, of the European Civic University CIVIS, alongside ten other prestigious European universities.

At the national level, in addition to the University of Bucharest, the 2026 edition of the QS World University Rankings includes nine other universities. Of these, three are members of the Universitaria Consortium: “Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca (761 – 770), “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași (1,001 – 1,200) and West University of Timișoara (1201 – 1400). It is the second of the most important international rankings launched in the last few days, which places the University of Bucharest on the first place at national level and among the best ranked universities in the world: according to Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, one of the most famous rankings in the international academic space, the University of Bucharest is the first university in Romania and 93rd worldwide for its involvement in sustainable development activities. The criteria according to which they are evaluated

higher education institutions in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are based on the 17 United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals included in the 2030 Agenda. The best score obtained by the University of Bucharest is for “Goal 5 – Gender Equality”, where, according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, the institution ranks 3rd worldwide. The University of Bucharest is also among the top 25 universities in the world for “Goal 4 – Quality education” and among the top 36 universities in the world for “Goal 16 – Peace, justice and effective institutions”.

The QS World University Rankings, now in its 22nd edition in 2026, provides an annual ranking of the world’s top higher education institutions based on nine performance indicators. With different proportions in the final score calculation, the nine indicators cover academic reputation, reputation among employers, share of students by faculty, number of citations by faculty, share of international faculty, share of international students, involvement in international research networks/partnerships, student employability and sustainability performance.
