MISSION:
The MEDICAL LABORATORY professional master’s degree program, operational in the Faculty of Biology of the University of Bucharest from the academic year 2019-2020, prepares graduates of different faculties who are entitled by law to work in the medical laboratory (bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry or chemistry), providing them with the necessary skills to consistently provide valid technical results for the medical analyses they perform in the medical laboratory. The Professional Master in Medical Laboratory, through the proposed program, offers an integrative approach of the disciplines in the field of medical laboratory with the discipline of management, addressing all graduates of chemical, biological and biomedical faculties working in medical laboratories.
SCOP:
The master program includes all subjects listed in European Syllabus (the only common European platform for the training of medical laboratory specialists), grouped into 4 areas, namely Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Genetics and provides graduates with the professional skills necessary to obtain a job in a medical laboratory or to sit the specialist or principal examination for different medical specialties, namely Medical Bacteriology, Clinical Immunology, Virology, Medical Parasitology, Immunochemistry, Immunochemistry, Health Chemistry, Medical Biochemistry, Hematology, Cytology, Embryology, Genetics, Toxicology, Quality Management.
OBJECTIVE:
- To deepen fundamental knowledge in the field of medical laboratory quality management in medical laboratories and other disciplines (molecular basis of the host-infectious agent interrelationship, pathology, diagnosis, epidemiology and control of parasitic, bacterial, fungal and viral infections, identification of microorganisms by microbiological, genetic and immunological methods, immunopathology, medical genetics, in vitro fertilization , histopathology, biochemistry, quality control and quality assurance in medical laboratories, biostatistics, bioethics).
- Skills and abilities training, necessary both for the employment of trainees in diagnostic and analytical laboratories with a medical profile and for research in these fields.
- Provide a program suitable for continuing, postgraduate training for specialists who are already working in laboratories but who wish to update their knowledge in these scientific fields.
- Developing a mentoring program for new staff by creating a structured system whereby new staff are supported to integrate more easily into the institutions/laboratories.
