MASTER IN APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY

MISSION:

The Master of Applied Microbiology and Immunology, through the proposed program, offers an integrative approach to microbiological and immunological disciplines derived from the common core of General Microbiology and Immunobiology, addressing all graduates of biological and bio-medical faculties: biology, biochemistry, ecology, human and veterinary medicine, pharmacy, chemistry and biochemistry technology, agronomy. As a post-graduate degree program, the Master of Applied Microbiology and Immunology has a double mission, teaching and scientific research, which fits the profile of the Faculty of Biology and the specialization of the Department of Botany-Microbiology, aiming as a major objective to train highly qualified specialists, corresponding to national and international standards in these areas of biological and biomedical sciences.

SCOP:

The ultimate goal of this Master’s program is to provide quality graduates with a thorough theoretical and practical professional training, with a pluri- and interdisciplinary background, who are in demand on the job market, who are adaptable and who will soon prove their social usefulness and become financially independent. In addition to field-specific competences, we are also concerned with training our students as young people of moral integrity and professional ethics, with the conviction that the biological sciences will play an important role in the future, being able to offer solutions for restoring and maintaining the natural balance.

OBJECTIVE:
  1. Deepening fundamental knowledge in the field of applied microbiology and clinical and experimental immunology,
  2. Building competences and skills, necessary for research activity in these fields, but also for the recruitment of trainees in Microbiological control laboratories (food products, drinking, waste or recreational water, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, microbiological environmental pollution); phytosanitary quarantine laboratories; Medical analysis laboratories (specialties Microbiology, Immunology, Hematology, Genetics); Research laboratories in the field of microbiology and immunology in research institutes and universities in the country and abroad.
  3. Provide a program appropriate for continuing, postgraduate trainingproviding a sound scientific basis for further studies in the Doctoral School of Biology.
