Biology is one of the most fascinating and dynamic sciences, exploring the complexity of life in all its forms and manifestations. From the molecules that form the basis of existence, to the vast ecosystems that sustain life on Earth, our field of study spans a wide range of topics vital to understanding and protecting the world we live in.
In an ever-changing world, biology plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges such as climate change, public health, biodiversity conservation and biosecurity. In this context, our mission is to train professionals capable of making a significant contribution to solving these problems through knowledge and innovation.
Through our bachelor, master and doctoral programs, we are committed to providing sound theoretical and practical training and to offering opportunities to get involved in cutting-edge projects. Our mission is to educate well-trained specialists with skills adapted to the demands of the labor market, excelling in diverse fields such as education, scientific research, public health and environmental protection. We facilitate our graduates' access to a variety of professional opportunities, thus enabling them to contribute actively and effectively to innovation and progress in their fields of expertise. The study programmes are designed to encourage not only the acquisition of knowledge, but also the development of applied skills, essential for analyzing and solving the complex problems of today's society; thus, our graduates are highly sought after in the job market, recognized for their ability to implement innovative and sustainable solutions in their fields of activity. Also, our national and international collaborations and partnerships with various universities, research institutions and industry, medical laboratories and clinics are essential for the continuous improvement of the educational process and for opening new professional horizons for our students and graduates, in a context where the major challenges of today's society require concerted global solutions.
The Faculty of Biology prides itself on cutting-edge research carried out in modern laboratories equipped to international standards. We are at the forefront of research in diverse fields ranging from molecular and cell biology, genetics, bioinformatics, ecology and biodiversity conservation.
In this spirit, we encourage students to actively participate in research projects and to develop the critical, analytical and practical skills essential for a successful research career. We strongly believe that involvement in research not only enriches theoretical knowledge, but also builds character, develops team spirit and cultivates a passion for science and innovation.
I share the pride of being a graduate of the three cycles of programs at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Bucharest - Bachelor, Master, PhD - and, at the same time, the honor of having outstanding colleagues. We have an elite faculty, dedicated not only to teaching, but also to mentoring and guiding students in their academic and professional journey.
